The newer Sitecore (6.2+) versions are able to automatically generate RSS feeds. If you want to create your custom feed or are using a older version of Sitecore you can use this code as a guideline. The supplied code is an .ASHX handler to generate a valid RSS feed. I’m using the .NET XmlTextWriter class to help us out a little. This example takes a itemLanguage parameter to get the right content language. Please keep in mind that the code can be structured better, its just an example. With some editing you can also use this for other types of XML output. The generated RSS passes validation and most browsers recognize it as being RSS.

Check out the example code.

The “sort subitems” function in the Sitecore (6.0) backend does not allow to select this custom field. Two steps are needed to accomplish this. The first is creating a icomparer class and the second is adding it to Sitecore.

Code example:

Namespace Evident.Web.Classes
{
    public class NewsSort : Sitecore.Data.Comparers.Comparer
    {
        protected override int DoCompare(Item itemFirst, Item itemSecond)
        {

         return itemFirst.Fields"Datum".Value.CompareTo(itemSecond.Fields"Datum".Value);
        }
    }
}

Navigate to: \sitecore\system\settings\subitem sorting Right click the node and choose ‘insert from template’. Choose the “Child sorting” template from \sitecore\templates\system\ Insert the DLL reference here: MyNamespace.MyType,MyAssembly (.dll)

Looking for a easy way to let users send or save data using a HTML enabled text field?
It’s possible to embed the “Radeditor” that is already included in your Sitecore installation. You can include it this way on an .ascx or aspx control/page:

<%@ Register TagPrefix="rade" Namespace="Telerik.WebControls" Assembly="RadEditor.NET2" %> "

< rade:RadEditor runat="server" Width="500px" ID="uxContent" RadControlsDir="~/sitecore/shell/RadControls/"> < /rade:RadEditor >

Don’t forget to add a reference to the RadEditor.NET2 dll in your Visual Studio project. You can customize the editor by editing the following XML files:

sitecore\shell\RadControls\Editor\ ToolsFile.xml ConfigFile.xml

The output is accessed by the property “.xhtml”. Example: message.Body = uxContent.Xhtml; This has been tested on Sitecore 6. Check out the result:
